“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” – Anatole France
One of my favorite ways to boost the chi of my home and work environment is with pets. Here are 6 types of pets that can boost your luck.
Birds symbolize opportunity, new beginnings, fortune, and prosperity. As an animal lover and vegetarian, I don’t like locking animals up, which is why I don’t keep any birds caged in my home. If you decide to keep a pet bird in your home, do not lock it up. Doing so symbolizes the caging or limiting of your wealth.
Instead, I enjoy attracting the birds in our garden, hearing them chirp or seeing them build their nests.
You can easily attract birds by setting up a birdbath or fountain in your garden, assuming that the fountain is in harmony with the bagua of your space. Another easy and affordable option is to place some bird food in your garden to attract birds.
I highly recommend adopting a dog from a shelter to boost the energy of your environment and to keep you personally active and healthy. Dogs represent protection and loyalty. Better yet, if you rescue a homeless or stray dog, this represents that luck and wealth is on its way!
There are so many sweet dogs in need of a home. I absolutely love the positive chi that my adopted doggy Casey provides, especially because he is always smiling, running around, and moving chi around the house and office! The best thing was he was already trained when we adopted him, so it is very easy to care for him.
If having a pet dog is too much responsibility for you or your family, then consider placing two sculptures of dogs or fu dogs in the front of your home for protection.
Considering welcoming frogs or toads in your garden or pond as they symbolize fortune and wealth. Or place a three-legged frog figurine (a.k.a. “money” or “wealth frog”), with a coin placed in its mouth, to invite wealth luck.
Ideally, the money frog should only be placed in cupboards or furniture crosswise from your main entrance. Have the frog facing inward to symbolize that money is entering your home or office. Be mindful not to place any frogs in the kitchen, bedroom, or toilet as this can result in monetary losses.
Even though they are a type of bird, roosters are so powerful in feng shui that they are in their own “pet” category. Roosters not only symbolize auspicious chi, but also bring protection for those facing politics in a difficult or competitive work environment. They may help with career advancement and professional achievement. If you have the space to raise pet roosters, I highly recommend it, as you can “kill two birds with one stone” – have the rooster for feng shui protection as well as nurture your health with organic and fresh eggs! Alternatively, you can consider placing a rooster figurine or image on your office desk to reduce office politics.
Turtles and tortoises symbolize longevity, good health, good fortune, and career success. They should be placed in a well maintained pond in your garden, ideally in the North direction. Alternatively, you can place a turtle, tortoise or dragon tortoise statue or figurine to activate luck. Simply choose a statue that is made of materials and colors that are in harmony of the area of the space they are placed in and the life aspiration that you would like to activate. For example, if you would like to boost your health luck, place a turtle made of wood material in the east area of your space.
Another fantastic way to boost your prosperity luck is via fish, which bring good energy through their movement of water. Place them in a well-kept pond or aquarium. Koi, arowanas, or gold fish are particularly lucky fish to raise as pets. If you want to keep things low maintenance, you can also place paintings of fish instead.
Be mindful of keeping your pets clean and healthy. Not only is it the responsibility for pet owners, but having clean and healthy pet friends improves your luck and the chi of your environment. Take care of them as you would take care of yourself and family. The vibrant nature of pets, whether they be live animals or images, is a great way to boost chi in home and work environments that feel stagnant. I hope these tips help you and that you enjoy being a pet parent like I do!
