You can’t make positive choices for the rest of your life without an environment that makes those choices easy, natural, and enjoyable. -Deepak Chopra
Do you constantly feel that your life is stagnant and that you are stuck? Career and or relationships not going well? Having a quarter or mid life crisis? If so, you may want to assess the energy of your environment via Feng Shui. Several times in my life, I have felt like I am running to a wall, but Feng Shui helped me balance my environment. Here are 5 Quick and Easy Feng Shui Tips that can help you improve your life, even if your Feng Shui knowledge is limited.
1. Get rid of junk!
We are all products of our environment. How could one feel energized to do great things with a bunch of clutter in one’s bedroom or work desk? You might think that cleaning up takes too much time, but isn’t it a waste of time constantly trying to dig for stuff when you are on a rush? Doesn’t the mess make you feel lethargic? Removing clutter will instantly make you feel like a weight has been lifted. Don’t forget to sort out the clutter that you accumulate on your electronic devices (e.g. computer or smartphone) to improve your “chi” as well.
2. Go Green
Place some live or artificial plants in your living room, dining room or office space to boost energy. Some plants that I love include:
- jades plants
- citrus trees
I personally love jade plants as they are easy to care for, beautiful and the ultimate symbol of wealth. Remove any cactus or bonsai plants you have in your space as they create negative chi. Also, if you have a tree blocking the front door of your house, remove it and avoid having any plants in your bedroom. It’s also best to have plants placed in the Southeast, South, and East as they are deemed to create harmony with those sectors of the Feng Shui Map. Remember the key is balance, so don’t have an excessive amount of plants in your space.
3. Repair and Remove
Have a leaky faucet? Broken mirror or light bulbs? Anything else that needs repair? Repair or discard anything that is broken in your space. How can you feel strong or energized when things around you are not working?
4. Balance Your Bedroom
Bedrooms should be relaxing. So, the key is the remove all items that prevent relaxation. For many of us, this means electronics: TVs, computers, etc. If your bedroom has a restroom, close any restroom door and cover the toilet seat. Also, make sure you don’t have any mirrors that reflect your bed as they can impact your marriage or relationships.
5. Lighten Up
Is your space dark and cramped? The best way to harmonize your home or office is to boost yang (strong and warm) energy and make sure there is a good balance of light and and “flow”. Open the curtains and drapes and allow the sunshine in! Or use candles or energy efficient light bulbs to allow some light to flow in dark spaces.
These Quick and Easy Feng Shui Tips are simple to do. There is no need for deep feng shui understanding to reap their benefits!
